RJ has always been a "yes" kid. No matter what you would ask, he would answer yes. Recently, he has learned the word (and power of) "no". I now see him struggling within himself to come up with the 'right' answer for any given question.
Apparently, as a toddler, his first instinct is to always - always- say "no". Here are a few samples of this recent toddler induced schizophrenia.
Mommy: Riker, do you want some milk?
Riker: No, yes, no, yes.
Mommy: Do you want some milk?
Riker: Yes.
Mommy: Do you want some oatmeal?
Riker: No yes.
Mommy: Did you potty in your diaper?
Riker: No.
Mommy: Let me check.
Riker: Yes.
Mommy: You went potty in your diaper.
Riker: No.
Mommy: Do you want to play Wii?
Riker. No. YES!
Mommy: Do you want to talk to Daddy?
Riker: No. Yes, no,yes,no. Yes.
Mommy: Do you want to talk to Daddy?
Riker: Yes.
I think the lesson here is to stop asking him yes/no questions.
